The stark beauty and graphic power of arid landscapes
Deserts reduce landscape photography to its purest elements: light, shadow, and form. The towering dunes of Namibia, sculpted by wind over millennia, create some of the most graphically powerful images in nature. Combined with the American Southwest's slot canyons and sandstone formations, these arid landscapes offer a stark counterpoint to my alpine work — equally dramatic, but in a completely different language.
