Snow-covered peaks, frozen lakes, and the quiet beauty of winter
Winter in the mountains strips the landscape to its essential forms. Snow blankets the valleys and clings to steep faces, transforming familiar scenes into minimalist compositions of white on white. Living in Switzerland gives me the privilege of experiencing these conditions firsthand — pre-dawn hikes through knee-deep powder, frozen lakes that become perfect mirrors, and the rare mornings when fresh snow meets pink alpenglow. This collection captures the serene majesty of winter at its most pristine.
Winter conditions in the Alps are unpredictable and fleeting. Living here means I can respond to rare conditions — fresh snowfall, frozen lakes, clear skies — within hours rather than days. Many of these images exist because I was able to reach the location before the conditions changed.
